Lower Back Pain

The basis of Yoga Therapy is to help move a person from “Ouch” to “Ohm” (Relief)!

Most of us have experienced Lower-back pain, for example. Many of us live with it chronically. Lower-back pain occurs when the spine and supporting muscles are out of sync (either overcompensating or in a weakened state). Common causes of Lower-back pain include: Sitting or Standing for long periods, “Sleeping wrong”, Stress from activity or emotional-tension (some folks carry stress in their shoulders, others in their lower-back), Arthritis and Osteoporosis can certainly exacerbate lower-back pain, and so can Sciatica! The good news is: For every painful motion there is a pain-less alternative which can help you heal and enjoy life more fully again.

Research finds that a Yoga class designed specifically for back pain can be as safe and effective as physical therapy in easing pain [Annals of Internal Medicine]. These findings are mirrored by the American College of Physician guidelines for treating common back pain.

But how does it work? Yoga Therapy for Low-back is a series of gentle stretches and breath techniques for improving:

  • Lumbar Support
  • Core Conditioning
  • Stabilizing Glutes
  • Bone Strength
  • Instilling Calm

Great for Beginners and folks with little time for self-care (especially during the holidays), we’ll be offering our next Low-back Yoga class in January 2021. Visit Moving From Within Yoga Facebook page for updates, or Contact Me with any questions. Namaste

In kindness,
